Dr. Veronica Swords,
DACM, L.Ac
A humbling experience with Lyme disease during childhood was the catalyst of Dr. Swords’s journey to use her own body as an infinite experiment to investigate our natural ability to heal through nutrition, herbal medicine, movement, manual therapy, and ultimately acupuncture.
After observing the progressive rise in autoimmune disease and how lifestyle and environmental factors were negatively modulating the immune response, she felt compelled to pursue a calling to holistic medicine. She enrolled in Pacific College of Health and Science where she earned her Master’s and Doctorate in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, which included comprehensive clinical and didactical training in Acupuncture, Herbal Medicine, and Western medicine. Her personal experience of feeling the powerful effects of acupuncture and herbal medicine to help manage chronic Lyme disease, endometriosis, adenomyosis and fibromyalgia propelled her fascination around balancing the body through yin and yang theory.
Dr. Swords has a fervent interest in digestive health, the autoimmune cascade, chronic pain, the gut-brain axis, and supporting patients emotionally through their health management. She dedicates herself to guiding the body back to homeostasis and helping others feel empowered through the physical and mental strength required to take control of their lives.
Accepting this medicine as a luminous, prescientific art, a lifetime of education to which she dedicates herself, Dr. Swords strives to illustrate how the body and organ systems are a microcosm of nature that demand sensitivity and harmony.
Approach
Dr. Swords’s goal is to offer her patients the necessary tools to regain autonomy of their mind and body, reestablishing their natural force as the true healer within themselves. She is committed to cultivating a warm atmosphere free of bias and judgment, meeting her patients wherever they may be in their healing journey. She honors being fully present with every patient so they feel safe, seen, and heard as she conscientiously observes and actively listens. She looks at each patient holistically, whether that entails reviewing lab results and imaging or discussing aspects of their diet and lifestyle. Dr. Swords conducts herself with honesty and integrity, and will advocate for her patients and seek answers with determination to questions that she does not know.
“It is far more important to know what person the disease has than what disease the person has.”
