Microneedling

Beauty from the Inside Out

Our bodies are intricate manifestations of organic vitality. in the pursuit of rejuvenation, it only makes sense to harness the innate wisdom of the human body through natural techniques.

Microneedling:
What is it?

Consider microneedling a workout for your collagen reservoirs through targeted, invigorating exercises. Also known as collagen induction therapy, microneedling involves the insertion of tiny, hair-thin needles into the skin to create precise micro-injuries. This minimally invasive technique prompts your body’s natural healing response resulting in cell regeneration, collagen synthesis, and elastin production.

Initially you may notice slight improvements in the skin’s texture and appearance, yet effects will be short-lived without continuous treatments. It is recommended to receive microneedling treatments every 4-5 weeks for about 3-6 sessions depending on the specific skin concern and the degree of severity. Over time with consistent treatments, improved elasticity maintains for longer durations, akin to muscle memory that develops after months or years of consistent workouts or sport. At that time, patients often opt for 1-2 treatments per year as maintenance.

your treatment:

  1. Stay Out of the Sun

Protecting your skin from sunburn is essential to good health. Please make sure to avoid getting sunburned within 1 week of your appointment, and stay out of the sun altogether for the first 48 hours. Within the first week following your treatment, remain in shaded areas when outdoors. I always recommend wearing SPF 50 or above on the face 1 week before and after your treatment in addition to wearing a hat and sunglasses.

  2. Plan Accordingly

Avoid cosmetic treatments (Botox, filler, chemical peels) and certain hair removal methods (laser, waxing, electrolysis) for 2 weeks around your microneedling treatment as this may increase sensitivity and the risk of skin irritation.

  3. Pay Attention to Your Cycle

For those who menstruate, plan around your cycle by avoiding microneedling during your bleed as your skin may be more sensitive at this time.

  4. Be Mindful of Your Skincare Regimen

Stop using retinols, retinoids, AHA’s, BHA’s, topical antibiotics, salicylic acids and exfoliants within 5-7 days of your treatment.

  5. Avoid Certain Meds / Supplements

Avoid anti-inflammatory medications and supplements such as ibuprofen or aspirin ( NSAIDs), fish oil, and vitamin E within 7 days or your treatment as these can inhibit the body’s natural response to inflammation, which is imperative to the healing process.
